It feels like yesterday: Our very first batch gathered in the BRYCK Tower for the 1st Livable Cities Sprint in 2022.
Fast forward to today, and we’ve hit a major milestone: 100 teams have joined our startup programs to accelerate their growth!
Since our start, we've run 24 programs for startups in the fields of Energy, Healthcare & Livable Cities to help them achieve their goals faster.
We are proud that the 100 startups represent more than 20 countries in Europe and beyond, as part of our goal to draw in the top tech startups in the continent.
During the 8–10-week programs, startups benefit from tailor-made support from BRYCK mentors and industry experts to solve their challenges and get access to investors, customers and talents.
For the programs, we cooperate with strong partners including 10xD, e-combinator, enpulse, EWG - Essener Wirtschaftsförderung, H2UB, Initiativkreis Ruhr & Universitätsmedizin Essen, who contribute their expertise and network to the startups.
However, the greatest confirmation and inspiration for us is the impact that startups have on the economy and society. Here’s how our alumni are making a difference:
4 alumni of our programs who are already delivering great economic and ecological added value are presented below as examples:
The Essen-based health startup has developed appointment management software for medical practices. Co-Founder Shabnam Fahimi-Weber, a doctor herself, succeeded to attract BRYCK’s initiator RAG-Stiftung as co-investor for Dubidoc’s financing round after completing our program. Recently, the startup introduced a digital self-check-in for patients in doctors' surgeries.
Health
The energy-tech startup develops intelligently connected renewable energy systems including photovoltaic systems, storage solutions and charging infrastructure for industry and commerce. After completing our program, the startup opened its headquarters in Essen and expanded its team to over 80 employees. In 2024, Greenflash was recognized as one of the most innovative companies in Germany with the Top 100 Award.
Energy
The spin-off from HU Berlin has developed scalable container systems that generate renewable energy and hydrogen from sewage sludge in a thermo-chemical process. After graduating from our program, the team was awarded the startup prize by Germany's Federal Ministry of Economics and received EUR 150.000 from the RAG-Stiftung via the BRYCK funding program. The 2 Co-Founders Nina Heine and Fabian Habicht were recently named ‘People of the Year 2024’ by Germany's leading business newspaper Handelsblatt.
Energy, Sustainability
The vertical-farming startup vGreens has developed an AI- and data-based facility to grow fruits on high racks in a highly automated process. Growing close to the consumer saves land and CO2 emissions. The concept is so successful that they have already expanded to Singapore. Recently, vGreens was recognized with the 1st prize of the Business Punk NEXT GEN Unicorn Award and attracted the attention of numerous leading media outlets including Handelsblatt, Süddeutsche Zeitung and Wirtschaftswoche.
Food, Sustainability, Livable Cities
As we hit the 100 startups milestone, one thing is clear: This is just the beginning of our journey!
